7 Stages
7 Stages is a professional, non-profit theatre company devoted to engaging artists and audiences by focusing on the social, political, and spiritual values of contemporary culture. 7 Stages gives primary emphasis to international work and the support and development of new plays, new playwrights, and new methods of collaboration. For over 40 years we have resided on the stolen lands of the Muscogee (Creek) people – these lands that we all know as Atlanta – and home. We are a global center for vital conversations through collaborative performance and continue to examine our role in creating a beloved community with the original inhabitants and all arrivals of this community through our artmaking. Youth Creates, our theatre training program for teenagers is gearing up! 5 weeks of all-things-performance this summer culminating in a student-created show from scratch. Applications available on the website.
Horizon Theatre Company
Sophisticated and funky, casual and friendly, Horizon is a welcoming home for professional contemporary theatre for diverse audiences – smart, funny, topical and provocative. Now in our 41st season in our intimate Inman Park theatre, our mission is to connect people, inspire hope, and promote positive change through the stories of our times. We produce a 5-6 play season of award-winning plays and stunning new voices that are all new to Atlanta from around the country and the world, our annual holiday musical for families (Madeline’s Christmas), and education programs for youth and early career artists. Join us for the rest of our season – 3 shows all written and created by Atlanta artists!
Next up our final show of our 2024-25 season, Hot Jambalaya, an encore production of Dad’s Garage original murder mystery musical comedy that was a breakout hit last summer at Dad’s. We’re bringing it to Horizon audiences this summer.
That’s followed by the wildly theatrical, fun and fast-paced comedy Holy Chicken Sandwich by Kira Rockwell about and all-night camp-out for a “win a year of chicken sandwiches” competition at an “iconic fast-food chicken sandwich restaurant” (August 20-Sept 19, 2026).
Then in the fall, join us for juicy comedy-drama Other Paths To God by Kelundra Smith, a wild ride through the lives of five resilient black nurses in a public Atlanta hospital (well, Grady) that’s funny, poignant, and just the right amount of scandalous (October 9-November 8, 2026).
Dad's Garage
Dad’s Garage is a unique nonprofit organization transforming people, communities, and perspectives through laughter since 1995. While they are best known for their short form improv games – think Whose Line is it Anyway? – and longer scenes incorporating audience suggestions, Dad’s Garage is a creative incubator that performs original scripted shows, musicals, and sketch performances. In addition to free community nights and summer camps, Dad’s Garage has six shows per week, almost every week, with something for everyone – this includes Scandal, an improvised Soap Opera; the family-friendly Wowie Zowie returning in July; and straight from a Broadway run, Gutenberg The Musical!, opening in June. Every show at Dad’s Garage is unique, fresh, and fun, and the theatre is proud to enter its 31th season come August 2026!
